Sims 4 CC
Custom content for Sims 4 will be in package files, with the exception of Sims and Lots. So how to install Sims 4 creations depends on the type of creation.
All custom content in Package files need to be placed in the Sims 4 Mods folder. The location of this folder is usually:
Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods .
Recolors show up as a variation of the original item with no specific indiciation of being Custom Content. This is for recolors of original objects. You must search for the original item and then the recolor will show as a swatch of color.
Downloaded Sims and Lots
Downloaded Sims and Lots contain each several files. All the downloaded files for that creation need to be placed in the Sims 4 Tray folder. The location of that folder is:
Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Tray
You must unzip the file and place only the tray items in your tray, not the zip file.
Once you have placed them there, you should be able to find the Sims or Lots in your personal Gallery in the game.
Here's a step by step for downloading and saving, cc, sims, lots, script mods etc.
Speeding Up Your Game
You may have noticed that the more you play The Sims 4, the longer your loading screens will last.
This issue is caused by Cache Files collecting as you progress through the game. These files serve it’s purpose as a faster way of loading in-game thumbnails (such as families, houses etc.) and they are created each time you load something ”new”.
As you add more custom content and mods for the game, you’ll notice that your Cache Files are getting bigger.
Luckily, these Cache Files can be deleted.
To do so, open your Documents folder (or a folder where your The Sims 4 Save Game folder is), Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. There’ you’ll find a folder called ”cache” and a file named localthumbcache.

Problems with the
The four programs I'll be linking to are excellent 'free progams', if you are having any issues with your browsers & / or game speed and performance.. they are great. Completely secure software, some of the best to clean the registry and that I trust 100%. Issues often 'build up' when downloading a lot of cc etc.
I just run these two programs.. in this order.. and the issues are fixed. A computer guy in my town recommended them when I had some problems. Also the 3rd and 4th run in the background (links also below) all the time.
Run number 1: adwcleaner Then 2: malwarebytes the 2nd also has a 'paid' version, if you want to get more 'cover' etc. I have found these programs to be a great 'fix' of browsers having been messed up with, random pop up ads, or even with 'new tabs' opening with weird links, etc.
With the 1st program, you'll run the scan and then click on 'cleaning', also make sure all applications etc are closed. It will then restart your computer to 'finish' the process. Then you'll run the malwarebytes program, a little different again. If you're a little nervous on using this, check here for more information on using adwcleaner.
Now for the Malwarebytes program: you'll click scan of course, it also lets you know when it's finished. Then click to 'remove' the malware found.
I also started using the free version of AVG realtime Antivirus protection again, as I used to use it years ago. Also a program called Auslogics Boost Speed 9, there is an option for a Registered Version for about $60 per annum if you stream a lot for example. With the free version, when running it remember that you have to 'end task' of Auslogics as it has a 'prompt' to register a full version, so will not 'close' the program when clicking the X... Unsure? Here's a review on the product. The only 'paid' version of all the above products, I run is Malwarebytes for added, real time protection.
